It's easy to forget that things haven't always been the way they are today, and it's easy to take for granted that things will always remain the way they are. But it's not easy to see the change because you grow with it. You are used to having certain things around you, and you often take them for granted, until they disappear.
The society tells you "this is how things are", and that is the base you stand on. You wake up every morning, go to school or work, do some shopping, take care of your family and so on. Do you want to remain on that base, or do you want to see beyond it? You are the one who decides how big your world is. It's all up to you.
You put up your own limits for how far you go. If you say "I can't" then you can't, but if you say "I can", then you can! Same thing goes with everything that is unknown to you. If you keep an open mind and allow yourself to taste the unknown, for instance a different culture or view of life, before you either reject it or invite it, then your world will grow. You will receive a bigger understanding, and be able to view things from many different angles.
It doesn't take much to see how the world has changed these last 100 years, and the change goes on, all the time. It never stops. Just think back 5 years, and you will see it. Now imagine what will happen the following 5 years, or 10 years, or why not 100 years.
Like I said, it's easy to take things for granted. If you go back about a hundred years, how many people back then thought that we one day will have cars, air planes or computers? Or that a woman will have the right to vote and study? Not many, and those who believed were most likely laughed at. But it was they who were the pioneers, and thanks to their dreams and visions many of those things exist today.
If you limit yourself to what is today, you will miss seeing tomorrow. What is fantasy for you today will maybe be reality for the people of tomorrow. The choice is yours if you are a part of creating tomorrow or not. Begin with right here and right now.
